The rotary dryer is a type of industrial dryer employed to reduce or minimizer the liquid moisture content of the material it is handling by bringing into direct/indirect contact with a heated gas. The dryer is made up of a large, rotating cylindrical tube, usually supported by concrete columns or steel beams. The dryer slopes slightly so that the discharge end is lower than the material feed end in order to convey the material through the dryer under gravity. Material to be dried enters the dryer, and as the dryer rotates, the material is lifted up by a series of internal fins lining the inner wall of the dryer. When the material gets high enough to roll back off the fins, it falls back down to the bottom of the dryer, passing through the hot gas stream as it falls. This gas stream can either be moving toward the discharge end from the feed end (known as co-current flow), or toward the feed end from the discharge end (known as counter-current flow). The gas stream can be made up of a mixture of air and combustion gases from a burner, in which case the dryer is called a direct heated dryer

Rotary dryer is an industrial dryer that is used to dry material by eliminating or reducing the moisture content. As a kind of Mining machine, the rotary dryer is widely used to dry a variety of material such as Food, coal, slag, clay, salt, limestone, cement, chemicals, etc. It is used in the Mining industry, Food industry, chemical industry, Agro industry, construction industry. Etc.

Rotary dryers are classified as

· Direct or indirect (air heating method),

· Current or counter current (material air contact).

Direct rotary dryer operates on the principle of lifting and showering the product through a hot gas stream moving either in parallel or counter flow.

The indirect is more useful to small dusty materials. In indirect dryer, there is little or no contact between the product and drying gases as they are heated from the outside the chamber through a stationary jacket fitted with either multiple burners or other external heat source.
The dryer is driven through a girth gear and tyre arrangement. Seales are provided at the ends to ensure minimum air leakage.

Drum drier is intended for drying coal, mineral, wood sawdust and other by a continuous method. Drying occurs due to direct contact to hot air. The material which is a subject drying is loaded between the furnace and rotating drum drier, and surrounded by hot air, passes through specially developed chambers of a drum. Unloading of a drum is carried out by the fan. In a cyclone there is a separation of a dry material from a smoke and steam which are removed outside through a pipe. A drum drier consists of drying drum and module heat generator. 

Drum: It is isolated by mineral wool and provides optimum movement of the material, exposed to drying. The drum is set in motion an electric motor with a reducer. All design is frame construction. The floor under drum drier should be concrete with metal reinforcing.  

The fan: It is placed in the end of drum drier and has two functions: - Suck in hot air from the furnace through drum dryer, Directs steam together with the dried up material to a cyclone.

Cyclone: The steam from the dried up material is used for separate. Steam leaves outside through a chimney, sawdust are collected in a bottom part of a cyclone and unload through a rotary valve. 

Control panel: Provides control and protection of all engines, and also displays values of temperature in control points drum drier.

The fodder drying equipment is a professional dryer for animal forage, animal feed, fodder, wood , wood flour , sawdust , charcoal , forage , straw and other agricultural wastes for it low temperature and large capacity.

Working Principle and structure of the fodder drying machine

Materials are sent to hopper of fodder drying machine by belt conveyor or bucket elevator. The barrel is installed with slope to horizontal line. Materials enter the barrel from the higher side, and hot air enters the barrel from the lower side, materials and hot air mix together. Materials go to the lower side by gravity when the barrel rotates. Lifters on the inner side of barrel lift materials up and down to make materials and hot air mix completely.
